How do you feel about Boys in Girls bathrooms and Boys in Girls sports?
If re-elected, I will continue to fight to protect our children from extreme ideas, promote conservative values and implement common sense policies. I believe we should NOT allow boys in girls bathrooms and boys should stay OUT of girls sports.
What is your position on Transparency?
Under my leadership, I instituted permanent live streaming of Board Meetings for transparency to our community.
Is there a large exodus of key personnel within the school district?
We are one of the few districts in California that is no longer dealing with declining enrollment and we have not had to lay off any teachers. In fact, we just hired 93 teachers and have a waiting list of over 300 teachers who would like to have a career in our district.
Where do you stand on CRT?
I have chosen to keep politics out of our schools by ensuring topics or theories outside of our district curriculum, such as the teaching of critical race theory, are not taught. It is a disadvantage to our students if any teacher deviates from the district curriculum in order to teach alternate subjects.
What is your position on Unions?
We have chosen not to allow the Teachers Union leadership to dictate our curriculum or interfere in new programs. While other districts around us are finding themselves with declining enrollment, we are offering new programs and an uptick in enrollment.
What is your position on Curriculum?
Under my leadership, I created policy to ensure the district curriculum is taught in the classrooms and that supplemental curriculum aligns with district curriculum.
What is your position on the Universal Sports Institute?
I support the USI which opened under my leadership. As of August 16, 2024 the Universal Sports Institute at Parkview is running in the black with a net gain of over $600,000 dollars before it even has opened its doors for the school year.
What is your position on Parental Rights & Parental Notification?
Under my leadership, I implemented a Parental Notification Policy to ensure parents are in the driver's seat of their children's education and are notified immediately of any "happenings" while at school.
What is your position on Special Education?
Under my leadership, I created a diploma pathway for special education students.
What is your position on School Safety?
As a retired Police Officer, School Safety is a top priority. When I was elected onto the board in 2020, there was no school resource officer at Esperanza High School. We have finally secured a School Resource Officer at Esperanza High School and I'm proud that all four of our high schools now have permament, full time School Resource Officer at their campuses. This should have never been the case and I'm thankful for the diligence of Dr. Cherniss in making this goal an achievment.
